Chayote is a very rustic and lush creeper, it produces both male and female flowers, the fruit is a large eggplant-shaped zucchini, the skin is green or white, thin with flexible spines that are easy to remove, the pulp is clear and has only one large edible seed.

After removing the bones, it is cut into rings or wedges and cooked boiled, sautéed or fried, or baked, as if it were a zucchini or a small pumpkin. Also excellent raw in slices, pickled and in oil. It has a delicate flavor between zucchini and pumpkin.
