features

Elephant garlic, better known as aglione, belongs to a different species than traditional garlic from which it generally differs for the production of larger bulbs, but above all for its more delicate flavor due to a very low content of the substance that makes it indigestible for many and which is responsible for “heavy breath”.
In addition, the outer integument detaches easily, making the cloves blossoming immediate.
Aglione is a vigorous plant capable of resisting weeds without the need for fertilization and treatment.

Producers

Ravenna

The company extends over 5 hectares in the Ravenna countryside and cultivates about 60 species of vegetables and fruits with great care and respect, and it also offers training courses for young people in conditions of fragility and vulnerability.

The cultivation of elephant garlic began in 2009 when a gardener gave away a few kilos of garlic that he produced in his garden, which he had in turn received as a gift in his youth. Passing from hand to hand, gift after gift, this old variety has been preserved for almost a century thanks to the commitment of amateur farmers, and today it has come down to us.
