The Il Piccolo Ortolano farm was founded in 2020 from the vision and determination of Marco Facchin, a young farmer who chose to root his project at the foot of the Euganean Hills, in the municipality of Saccolongo, in the province of Padua. A land rich in agricultural history, but also marked by profound transformations, which Marco has decided to reinterpret with an innovative spirit and deep respect for

the land.

After completing his studies as an agricultural technician with a specialization in organic production, Marco embarks on a path of conscious return to his family roots, taking over the land that belonged to his grandfather, once destined to the breeding of dairy cows. With courage and foresight, he decided to convert these areas into organically cultivated agricultural land.

The terrain is immediately difficult and demanding: a hard, compact, tenacious soil that requires great physical and technical commitment. However, Marco is not discouraged and, through patient and meticulous care, finds his first satisfaction in the cultivation of legumes, pumpkins and onions, varieties that are well adapted to these conditions.
The company's flagship is the Cornetta Veneta, an ancient, rustic and now almost forgotten legume, which Marco has chosen to enhance and bring back to the field. This variety, once widespread in the Venetian foothills, represents an agricultural and cultural heritage to be preserved, and its presence in the fields of Il Piccolo Ortolano testifies to the desire to link daily work to the agricultural memory of the

territory.

In 2024, Marco joined the El Tamiso cooperative, with which he shares principles and vision.
Today, Il Piccolo Ortolano is much more than a farm: it is the result of a generational project, which intertwines tradition and innovation, family identity and professional choice, in a journey that looks to the future with awareness and respect. Marco, with his careful work and his clear vision, demonstrates every day how virtuous agricultural models can be built, capable of generating economic, environmental and cultural value.
