Waiting for what meteorologists already define as the September summer, it's time to make some assessments of the current season.
The rainy end of winter has caused significant delays in planting and transplanting, sometimes it has even caused production cycles to fail (it is no coincidence that green beans, beans, peas, tomato sauce, lettuce, zucchini and other typical spring and summer vegetables have been lacking or scarce this year). In the same way, the planting of cereals and extensive crops such as barley, wheat, corn, protein peas, millet, sorghum, buckwheat has been delayed. The latter in particular was the subject of experimentation this year by our cooperative.
The current situation is good because it has been possible to transplant the vast majority of autumn and winter species. Everyone is therefore hoping to face a mild September in order to recover the losses suffered in the current year. The summer productions of the various plots were heavily conditioned by the cold spring, which caused a significant reduction in productivity.
The drop in temperatures in mid-August caused a slowdown in harvests and during this period the zucchini from Moretto and Tognon, the melons from Guizzardi, the leeks from Ca' Solare, the potatoes and onions from Damo, the eggplants from Gaia, the apples from Perazzolo, the peaches from Fortin are arriving...
