Osmance - Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sowing the return!

26.02.13

Saturday, June 19, 2004, on the occasion of the 20 years of activity of the El Tamiso Cooperative, at Villa Giovannelli in Noventa Padovana: in a memorable and still unprecedented evening, Marco Paolini entertains the public on “Catechism for the Use of Farmers” - a local text from 1869. Thanks to Marco's free commitment and the availability of the City of Noventa, the proceeds from the show, about 4,000 euros, through ACS (Development Cooperation Association, Padua) ended up in Bratunac, a stone's throw from Srebrenica, in Bosnia. They were a modest contribution, among many others, to the “Raspberries of Peace” project, which today is the Together Cooperative, present last week at the Biofach in Nuremberg. In the following years we continued to postpone a visit to the places of the Cooperative, but also to the places of the most ferocious genocide of the recent war in the Balkans. The new opportunity came in 2012, stimulated by ASF (Agronomi Senza Frontiere — Padua). A first trip to see what you can 'do', to Osmacè, a village in the mountains around Srebrenica. What is then becoming the Osmacè Buckwheat project. In a few days a second mission, and at the end of April we will take our social trip to those parts, also passing through Sarajevo and Mostar. Then we will host the group of Osmacè farmers involved in the project, to complete the exchange of experiences. Our role will be precisely of cultural exchange, and of agronomic/commercial consultancy, obviously in the perspective of the organic cultivation of buckwheat and other cereals in rotation. We have no perspective, nor are we very interested, in building import relationships for future productions, because in our opinion there is a local market to rebuild and develop. And because we are convinced that the future lies in the globalization of knowledge, not of goods. And the Balkans, for everything they represent in the recent and distant history of our country and of our people, concern us in a special way.

Below are the photos of El Tamiso's trip in 2012 and by clicking HERE a video - interview with the Peace Center of the City of Venice and the Good Morning Bosnia Group, created by Yuri Sirri Nakvas and Domenico Palazzi, supported by: Alexander Langer Stiftung Foundation; Adopt Srebrenica; Idemo; Cesena Peace Center on the situation of Osma? and from the point of view of Mohamed who was born there in 1981 and was forced to flee in 1992. He returned in 2008. With an idea. Cultivate buckwheat.
