We jokingly asked our agronomist Luca Michieletto: “let's wait for the Christmas poem for the news from the fields.”
Ahinoi and ahivoi took us at our word! Here is the daring composition!!
Dear New Year
Bring us a clearer weather
We are in the fields all day
and with a lot of love we cultivate our land.
Now that winter has arrived
Let our product be appreciated
Who buys our products from
with which he cooks not only excellent risottos.
This long year has delivered us
an undisciplined autumn,
our crops have suffered
and now let's hope for a winter with a clear sky.
We are collecting in a little more than a heartbeat
what should have been enough for at least two months;
Broccolo and radicchio is ready
even if we would have liked to keep it 'on account'.
The heat of October and November
it will do damage not only in December,
But now let's plan for the New Year
Let's hope the bad weather doesn't repeat itself!
The onions and garlic outside have already sprouted
and in the greenhouse the spinach leaves well;
If we sow peas in February
and we plant the potatoes in March,
Surely a great spring will be
and the season will start well;
the well-tilled land will be
and everyone will benefit!
Beyond the terrible composition... happy new year from those who, with care and passion, work the soil and think that the fruit of their work is not only food but food for body and soul.
