We opened it on February 14, 1985, in Piazza dei Frutti, near the fountain, facing west along the porches of the Salone, where the sun never shines.
The Municipal Administration at the time, with Mayor Settimo Gottardo, had no problem applying the then Law No. 59, which established that for each market there was a minimum of space guaranteed to individual or associated agricultural producers.
This is despite the fact that “organic” was not so popular, but even then in Padua there was attention to natural agriculture, healthy nutrition and alternative medicine, supported by the commitment of some Cultural Associations, in particular La Biolca. We remember the enthusiasm and pride of many of our supporting Citizens, who finally saw their thoughts and lifestyle recognized publicly. A form of “militant” purchase of great interest, which is still being addressed today.
Then there were many years of work for us, even hard, but full of satisfaction, especially on a human and cultural level.
In short, this positive experience of 42 years of life fully belongs to our City.
On March 16, 2026, we opened the doors of our completely renovated store, the result of careful design and construction work by La Centrale Interni.
We are in the heart of the Padua Sotto Salone, the oldest covered market in Europe, a space that has guarded the commercial and social life of the city for over eight centuries.
Here, on October 1, 2017, we decided to open our organic products store, completing a journey that began more than forty years ago with the historic stall in Piazza delle Erbe.
Today we feel that the time has come to take a step forward: to renew ourselves, investing in a single store that knows how to preserve our identity, but with a contemporary, functional and welcoming look. A space redesigned to enhance even more our work and that of small farms that cultivate with respect, care and love for the land. New manufacturers, new products, same philosophy.
Investing in the Sotto Salone also means investing in the city of Padua: supporting a place made up of small shops that represent real garrisons of the territory, capable of offering quality, relationship and cultural continuity. Walking through its lanes means letting yourself be surrounded by scents, flavors and stories where the past and the present coexist
in perfect balance.
