Matteo Traverso runs the Le Saline farm with his brother Luca, consisting of 20 hectares worked with the organic farming method.
The company, immersed in the greenery of Agna, one of the largest of the members of “El Tamiso”, produces a variety of vegetables limited to: pumpkins, watermelons, beans, tomatoes and leeks. This aspect is mainly due to the fact that the income deriving from the processing of the fields does not allow the hiring of other personnel, necessary to take care of a larger number of species and therefore to a rationalization of work imposed also by the size of the agricultural machinery, calibrated on a company of significant size.
Le Saline also characterizes the breeding of pigs, which, after a period of experimentation in which they were also produced transformed (cold cuts), are now simply grown and sold. Matteo and Luca are descendants of a well-known family of landowners in the area who decided, at the end of their studies, to “get their hands dirty” taking care of the land directly.
