The Funghi San Giorgio farm began its activity producing Prataioli, Pleurotus and Pioppini mushrooms in 1981, continuing uninterruptedly to the present day. In addition to producing mushrooms, it offers technical advice for starting crops also abroad.
Starting from the year 2003, the phase of research and development of new methodologies that could allow production in a cleaner and more sustainable way began. In 2010, after years of experimentation with scarce means, a phase characterized by constant production in terms of quality and quantity and the total absence of chemicals was finally reached, and the objective of eco-sustainability, the most difficult to achieve, was also achieved. At this point, only organic certification was missing to complete the project, which arrived as a result of the results achieved. In reality, the certification was a pure administrative act because the production had voluntarily followed the rules of organic farming for some years since we have always believed
in this philosophy.“We decided to join the cooperative because its philosophy was and is similar to our vision of ways of producing.”
