features

Carrots are among the most consumed vegetables in the world; they are grown relatively easily and are a very versatile ingredient, used in a wide variety of dishes, raw and cooked or in juices and centrifuges.
They are
resistant vegetables, but to obtain sweet, crisp and well-formed roots, it is essential to provide them with suitable soil. The soil structure plays an important role: they prefer loose, sandy and well-drained soils to avoid deformation or stunted growth.

The high presence of beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, has many beneficial effects for our body: it is a strong antioxidant, encourages the development of the immune system, contributes to skin protection and much more.

Producers

Ronzo-Chienis (TN)

The Ortigresta farm is located on the heights of the Val di Gresta, the “organic gardens of Trentino”.
For more than 15 years Loredana, Stefano and Paolo have chosen to abandon what they did to dedicate themselves to organic agriculture and peasant traditions, favored by the almost totally family management of the company.
Small terraced fields, more than 1200 meters above sea level.
In addition to growing carrots, the boys of Ortigresta are also dedicated to: potatoes, cauliflower, cappuccino, celeriac, chard and salads.

Luco dei Marsi (AQ)

The company was founded in March 2011 when Antonella took “the legacy” of the Marsica Biological farm, it is located in Abruzzo in the “Piana del Fucino” and the crops are produced at 700 meters above sea level.
Low temperatures are important for the cultivation of a quality carrot, the harvest and processing are done every day and this guarantees a product that is always fresh.

Codigoro (FE)

The Naldi-Rimbaldi family has been active in the organic agriculture sector since 1994, the year in which they started careful experimentation on 6 hectares of land owned by them. Since then, commitment and passion for agriculture that respects nature have guided every production choice, leading the company to specialize in an excellent crop: carrots.
The sandy soils, located between the Po di Volano and the sea, represent an ideal habitat, thanks to their excellent drainage and ease of processing. However, these environments may be subject to the presence of nematodes, phytoparasites that attack roots

causing rotting and deformation.

To combat this problem, the company adopts agronomic practices such as green manures, useful for improving soil structure and interrupting the pest cycle, and the use of neem grass, a natural fertilizer derived from the cold pressing of fruits and kernels of the homonymous tree, known for its nematocidal properties.
