Mauro Tognon, one of the youngest members of the cooperative, began his activity in 2006 when, fresh from graduating as an Agricultural Expert, he decided to take over land of about two hectares in Cagnola, in the Lower Padua area.
Subsequently, he rented just under one hectare of excellent agricultural land in Terrassa Padovana, since 2012 partly invested in the cultivation of asparagus. Supported and helped in his choice by his family, Mauro had to build a farm from scratch, starting from the bare ground, without agricultural machinery or tool shelter.
The first difficulty was to make “destructured” soil fertile, that is, poor in organic matter, the legacy of a multi-year corn monoculture; after six years, the land is now of a good level, soft and capable of retaining water even if there are still some difficulties for the weeds that invade the headlands, recalling harmful insects. Animated by good will, passion and excellent dexterity, he immediately approached the world of organic agriculture, relying on the co-op El Tamiso, demonstrating a strong cooperative spirit that brought him to office in a short time, first as Advisor and then as Vice President.
