From February 1, the campaign “for a territory without GMOs” will start in Veneto and Friuli. In order to inform and carry out actions in this direction, the ZERO GMO COORDINATION “healthy food for everyone” was established, with the participation of environmental associations, farmers and aware citizens:
Why a lot of research shows that GMOs have negative effects on health
Why do they threaten Biodiversity
Because GMO plants and seeds are owned by multinational corporations, they impoverish farmers and threaten the food sovereignty of all of us.
We will certainly be present in 70 municipalities in front of supermarkets, in squares, in front of schools and markets, to distribute information material that can make everyone aware of the problem of Genetically Modified Organisms. The purpose of the Zero GMO Coordination initiatives is to prevent our country from giving in to false optics of a globalized economy, without territorial roots, without the search for food quality, and to give the green light to the cultivation of these genetically manipulated plants that contain genes that are not their own, dangerous to the environment and to health, not to mention the loss that they would mean for the entire economy that revolves around mady food in Italy. Based on the precautionary principle, we ask for an absolute ban on the cultivation of GMO varieties, because no coexistence is possible with traditional and organic crops and with the biodiversity heritage widespread in our territory.
We also ask for the complete traceability of food, both with regard to raw materials and with regard to processed foods, meat and animal feed. In fact, traceability, although sanctioned by regulation (not in animal-derived products for which there is no obligation to declare!) , is often disregarded and not made public. This is the first step, but over time we also ask for the gradual elimination of foreign GMOs, soybeans and corn, which are already widespread in animal feed also in Italy. Citizens need to know what they're eating.

As already announced some time ago, Saturday, February 1, the “ZERO GMO - HEALTHY FOOD FOR EVERYONE” campaign will start, an initiative promoted by a multitude of associations (including the AIAB of Veneto and the El Tamiso Cooperative), groups, local realities and individual citizens who want to make their voices heard and who want to tear through the deafening silence that surrounds the GMO issue and wish to create awareness on an issue that is central not only to our agriculture but also to the environment, health, biodiversity.
On February 1, anyone can participate in the initiatives that will be organized in every Venetian province (and in other areas of Italy), but also self-organize a moment of information and complaint. Perhaps by printing one of the flyers that we will put online and disseminate it in your country, or by sending emails or letters to newspapers and politicians, using social media, word of mouth, giving free rein to your creativity
