A summer sun accompanied, on the first Sunday of October, the El Biológico market festival in Piassa: party, market and many opportunities to see the world of organic food in many of its facets. The Councilor for Commerce and Agriculture Antonio Bressa opened the day, underlining how the administration's proximity to the organic agricultural world is reflected in the availability of agricultural land waiting for candidates to be worked with this method. Following the interesting and burning conference on the topic of school canteens with speeches by Marco Mazzucato, Councillor for Education of the municipality of Albignasego, Cristina Cavinato, Deputy Mayor of the municipality of Piazzola sul Brenta, Florinda Vezzoso, representative of AIAB Veneto educational laboratories and Franco Zecchinato, president of our cooperative, moderated by Stefano Bianchi, president of AIAB Veneto. The debate was organized to discuss the strategic role of organic food in school canteens due to its educational reach to children and, through them, to adults and the entire community, without forgetting its value as an investment in children's health. Because quality pays off immediately, but it pays off over time.
The day then took the turn of a real party with the animations for the children of the 'Luna Park di Bolle', the imaginative puppets of the 'House of Gnomes', the play 'The Empty Vase' by the theater company 'Fantaghirò' and ending with the unrestrained dances' provoked 'by the group 'Porte'Perte'.
Among the exhibitors, a large representation of the El Tamiso cooperative that brought the producers (Ca' Resà, Podere Clara, Michele Borgato, Biancospino, Piccolo Ortolano, Giuseppe Chilin) and of course the products of their companies, as well as a delicious exhibition of products from the Oven di Rubano (baked goods and desserts made with the flours of our members). The “Cruditer” “experiential” laboratory has also caught the mark: a journey through the earth made available by some members to be touched, smelled, analyzed, accompanied by the agronomist of the cooperative Davide Tromballi and the agroecologist Nicola Manno. The Cruditer project stems from the Humus Network movement (also present Maurizio Agostino, coordinator of the network) a social network promoted by various organizations operating in Italian organic agriculture with the intention of promoting an international economic, cultural and social identity of Italian bioagriculture of which El Tamiso is a founding member.
The presence in the square of Paduan associations such as Clac, the Community for Free Cultural Activities of Padua, the lack of interlocutor of the Municipality for the Ex Slaughterhouse area or of the group of citizens who fight against the fourth line of the incinerator and those who fight to keep the former Prandina barracks a public park and does not become a parking lot, the doctors of the ISDE (Italian association of doctors for the environment)... active citizenship that offers alternative models with many similarities to the organic movement.
