Once again, bad weather has graced organic farming, giving us a great spring day! The new thing is the place itself, Prato della Valle, certainly one of the most beautiful, largest and most suggestive squares in Europe. As for the first time, a real organic restaurant service has been organized, inside Memmia Island, open for 2 days by “BioPerte” and with Costigliola wines. But not only that, the place has made it possible to bring an exhibition of vintage tractors and agricultural tools, organized by the “Tractor Team” Association, of Albignasego. And... finally, an exhibition of real animals, donkeys, goats, sheep, hens (Padovan), in order to recover the historic function of the “Pra dea Vae”, as a Foro Boario and a great place of exchange between city and countryside. In addition to the recovery, also through specifically organized visits, of its very obvious archaeological traces (the Roman theater Zairo, the Fori), in addition to the classic botanic garden. All this to overlap with the more than 80 exhibitors, including producers, artisans and associations; the numerous workshops and opportunities for animation and play for children. On Saturday evening, despite rather cold temperatures, there was the inauguration by the two Councillors for Commerce of Padua and Venice, to sanction a twinning of intent on organic issues; then the music of Gualtiero Bertelli and the Water Company. Sunday then saw a continuous influx throughout the day, which clogged at least half of the large hemicycle of Prato, estimated at several thousand people who entertained themselves for most of the day, creating some problems with the passage of horses and carriages from the “Duke of Abruzzi” Agricultural Institute, which carried people up and down Padua all day long. Great protagonists of the day are the children, thrilled to be able to ride large agricultural tractors, to caress animals, play with forgotten games, skate, play Paolo “Banjo” bongos and much more. A great message of hope. Aiab Veneto has collected many signatures of support on the issue of GMOs, once again a serious danger for our community and our future. As organizers, we can only express great satisfaction with the success and renew our effort to continue on this path, also supported by the Municipal Administration and the Chamber of Commerce, as well as some important “private” support, such as the Padua Fruit and Vegetable Market and some enlightened organic entrepreneurs.
