The earth welcomes.
Inhumanity kills and destroys.
The land that we as organic farmers care for with dedication and love, produces sustenance for the life of plants, animals, microorganisms and all the women and men who live on the planet. His generosity is a teaching of humanity, because it places no limits on coexistence and peaceful and supportive integration between nature, humans and all other living beings.
The massacre on the beach of Steccato di Cutro in Calabria brings back to us once again the drama of populations fleeing their homes and lands, very often stolen or made inhospitable due to climate change, hunger, violence and war.
It is an unbearable scandal that of dismal politicians who seek votes on the fear and criminalization of migrants and of the humanitarian organizations that do their best to rescue them.
We who feel like people of the earth, every day in our country know that hospitality is not only a choice of solidarity but a necessity.
We can carry on the production of our fields and farms and restore vitality to our rural villages only with a true vision and practice of openness, reception and integration with migrant populations.
This is why we take to the streets - bodies matter - to show our outrage at this umpteenth massacre of defenceless children, teenagers, women and men.
First of all, we want to apologize for Italian and European political criminals.
We want their sacrifice to be a warning for a new path of justice for the surviving family members and the lands from which they come.
This is why as organic farmers from Calabria and from all over Italy we are participating in the event that will be held in Cutro on Saturday, March 11.
