Organized crime against biological - AIAB and all of us against organized crime

On the night of May 3, 2013, yet another organic farm in Calabria was the victim of a criminal act, four of these, associated with AIAB, were hit during a single year. The latest attack occurred against the president of AIAB Calabria, Salvino Moro.

80 olive trees, the result of maintaining the local biodiversity repertoire, have been cut for the purpose of intimidation to put an end to the work of regenerating the role of environmental sentinel that the organic sector is playing in the Region.

AIAB, on the occasion of its National Board of Directors, the body where all the Presidents of the Regional AIAB sit, which was held yesterday in Rome, expressed its utmost solidarity with Salvino Moro and his family and strongly denounces to the community and institutions the climate of prevarication and illegality that softens entire areas of the Calabrian territory, which is equivalent to saying that it infects entire areas of the national territory.

AIAB and the organic companies it represents will continue to guard the territory with the testimony of the work of caring for the environment and the production of healthy food, in addition to promoting legality and social attention, accompanied by a constant and irreducible action of rejection and reporting of wrongdoing and abuse.

The National Board of AIAB has also decided to contact the President of the Senate, Piero Grasso, in his dual capacity as second office of the State and as a former magistrate engaged in the fight against organized crime of a mafia nature, to help organic companies and cooperatives by raising, with his voice, the level of attention against intimidation and mafia penetration into rural activities and the food system.
