Sunday, May 11, the spring edition of the market-festival “El Biológico in Piassa” will be held, as always in collaboration with the City of Padua, AIAB Veneto, ICEA and the support of the Professional and Agricultural Organizations of Padua.
The event returns to Prato della Valle, after the successful edition last spring, which saw thousands of participants browsing the fruit and vegetable and craft banquets, bringing many people closer to the “organic” movement with their first approaches to this world, thus satisfying one of the fundamental objectives of the event, namely the promotion and dissemination of the values related to organic agriculture (watch the video of the last edition).
There are also numerous attractions for this edition, with about eighty exhibitors who will offer vegetables, fruits, processed products, cold cuts, pizzas, cheeses, honey, citrus oil, wines, ice cream and more, together with associations active and committed to the territory with health and solidarity proposals, and more artisans, many of whom will demonstrate in the square, who work with wood, straw, ceramics... Great attention is also paid to children with the wooden toys, the result of Lodovico Pamio's creativity, the inline skates of the ORS association, the usual horse-drawn cart ride of the Duke of Abruzzi Agricultural Institute and, in the Lobo S. Giustina, games and sports coordinated with the Libertas Association and again, animals such as chickens, goats, donkeys and an exhibition of vintage agricultural tools. At the same time, the clown therapy volunteers for Red Nose Day will be present in Isola Memmia, who, in order to make their very important activity known, will entertain the little ones with group games and baby-dance.
The cultural aspect will not be overlooked with organized and guided visits to the Botanical Garden, curated by La Biolca and the statues of the Memmia Island thanks to the Arc.A.dia Association and, when it's lunchtime, why not stop and taste the culinary proposals of the Veronesi Valpolicella Natural Bio and the
Osteria di Fuori Porta, an interesting proposal for organic and possibly local catering that we can find at Arcella in Padua.
The day will be an opportunity to celebrate the decision of the Lazio Regional Administrative Court that rejects the motivations of the Fidenato farmer, effectively
blocking the planting of genetically modified corn in Italian territory. It is the victory of many, including environmental associations, groups of farmers and people who have managed to make a common front against the arrogance of those who would like to impose their freedom at the expense of that of others, destroying a model of agriculture that creates excellence and biodiversity, proposing one, the son of multinational corporations, that creates approval and degradation.
