New president for the El Tamiso Cooperative!

28.06.24

Sunday, 23 June 2024, in the pleasant setting of the farm “The Scent of Freshness” in Lusia (Rovigo), the usual meeting of the members of the El Tamiso Agricultural Cooperative was held for the renewal of the Board of Directors.

The most significant step was the change in the role of president between Franco Zecchinato, who has been at the helm of the cooperative for almost forty years, and Giovanni Parpagiola. Giovanni, a young member born in 1990, is the co-owner of “Il Ciuffo Verde”, a family-run organic farm at the foot of the Euganean Hills, and has been on the Board of Directors of the Cooperative for the last six years, the last

three as vice-president.

Elia Bozzolan, also a young co-owner of the well-known organic farm “Podere Clara” in Legnaro, has been appointed vice-president.

A change that promises to be in the name of continuity in pursuing those values that have led El Tamiso to reach (in full health) the goal of forty years. Values that translate into the daily commitment to offer a range of products that are not the result of the exploitation of the environment and people and that we find clear in the statute, in article 3, a programmatic statement

of the cooperative's goals:

Art. 3 (Mutual purpose)

The Cooperative is governed and governed according to the principle of mutuality without the purpose of private speculation and has as its purpose

1. the technical and economic enhancement of the agricultural products of its members in order to protect and improve their productive activities and the remuneration conditions of the product supplied by them;

2. The practice and dissemination of the organic farming system and other methods designed to reduce the imbalance caused by the cultivation of biotopes;

3. The qualitative and quantitative improvement both in relation to the product and to the working conditions of the members;

4. The development of initiatives useful for safeguarding and pursuing a sustainable use of

environmental resources;

5. Research is the study and dissemination of means to acquire and maintain the health of members and of man in general

;

6. The practice of non-violence in relationships, between men and with the environment

Technical/agricultural aspects go hand in hand with environmental and social aspects: the last passage that emphasizes non-violence in relationships is significant, an aspect, that of the practice of peace, which has returned to dramatic relevance.

Therefore, in the context of the celebrations for the fortieth anniversary, he leaves the symbolic president of the Cooperative who in any case will accompany the newly elected for the next few years, following him closely in his role as board member.

“Agriculture can no longer postpone a new approach to the environment, to production methods and to the relationship with consumer citizens, before it is too late. Our first forty years show that the alternative is possible.
